How to upload pictures on the Steem blockchain

Bilde
Most people want to include pictures in their post when they are blogging on the Steem blockchain, but at the moment it's currently impossible to store pictures directly on the blockchain. However, you can easily include pictures in your post, but they cannot be stored directly on the blockchain itself. To include pictures in your post, simply drag them into your post (only works if you are using Steemit or Busy). This will automatically upload your picture to Steemit's servers, and they will be visible on your post. You could also upload your pictures on any image hosting service (such as Imgur) and paste the direct link to the picture into your post to make it show up. It might be possible to upload pictures directly to the blockchain in the future, which would be amazing, but we've got to upload them somewhere else until this can happen.

The top 6 reasons why you want to Power Up!

Bilde
Steem Power has many advantages over Steem, and the main selling point is that you get more influence over the blockchain, both in terms of curation reward, but also in post reward and witness vote weight. Below are the 6 best reasons why you should Power Up all your Steem into Steem Power! It is a nice long-term investment If you plan on being invested on the Steem blockchain for long-term, you might as well be invested in Steem Power instead of Steem. The only downside to holding SP is that it takes a few weeks to get your tokens if you decide to sell it all, but if you plan on investing for a long-term scale, then the Steem Power is only a positive! It gives you more influence in many matters, such as those below, so it's a great investment if you have faith in Steem. You can reward your followers and commentors I love to upvote any good comment on my post, or any decent reply to a comment I made, and with more SP I'm able to give a higher appreciation to those who

Bilde

How to find the best paying tags

Bilde
When you create a post on the Steem blockchain, you can have up to 5 different tags attached to your post, and other users tend to browse these tags in search for good content. This means that posting content with the correct tag could potentially get you a lot of upvotes, and many people don't know that it's easy to find tags that have a high payout. The entire list of tags that have a certain payout is found over at http://steemit.com/tags, and there you can sort it by clicking on the column that says "Payout". This will put the tag with the highest total payout at the top, so you can easily find those who pay a lot! You got to remember that this tells how the total payout for all posts in the tag category, not the average payout. If you want the average, look at the "# of posts" column, and divide the Total Payout by this # of posts. This gives you the average, and can be a good starting point when looking at tags that are valuable. Never use non-r

Steem, Steem Power and SBD explained easy

Bilde
If you are new to the Steem blochchain, then all the different tokens can be pretty complicated to understand, but this post aims to help you better understand it all. Below is a short explanation of each of the three different tokens Steem Steem is the main token on the Steem blockchain. You can trade, sell and buy Steem from other users as you wish. You will get awarded Steem or SBD in addition to Steem Power when your contribute to the blockchain by posting or commenting. Your main source of Steem will most likely be from powering down Steem Power, if you choose to do so. If not it will probably be from selling SBD on the internal market.  Steem Power (SP) Steem Power is the powered up version of Steem. It it worth exactly the same as one Steem, but it cannot freely be traded to other accounts, but must instead first be powered down. When powering down Steem Power, each SP gets converted to one Steem. The bonus to keeping Steem Power instead of Steem is that you get high

How to Power Up your Steem, converting Steem into Steem Power

Bilde
By power up your Steem you gain more influence on the blockchain. What it actually means is that all your upvotes are worth more money, so you can give people more payment for their posts, as well in increasing your own curation rewards. In order to power up, you need the Active Key or higher. Now head over to your wallet and click on the small arrow next to your Steem balance. Simply click on "Power Up", read the disclaimer, and select how much you would like to Power up! You can easily Power Up all your Steem, which converts your Steem into Steem Power. This means that you will get more influence on the blockchain, but it will take some time to power down, which you should keep in mind if you might want to sell your tokens. It takes a total of 13 weeks to power down all your Steem Power. Doing this will reduce your influence, but will get your Steem Power back to being Steem. Steem can be sold, but holding Steem will not give you a more valueable upvote. Note that you

How to unlock the Voting Weight slider

Bilde
You might have heard about the "Upvote slider" or Vote Weight slider if you've been using Steem, but you might not have unlocked it for yourself yet. The slider simply lets you decide what weight to vote with, and you can vote with any full % on any post. This allows you to vote with 50 % vote to get 2x the amount of votes without loosing any Voting Power, or vote 4x as much with 25 % voting weight etc. You can also reward very good posts with a higher % vote than those okayish posts that you still think deserve some reward, but not as much as the first one. What the voting slider looks like. To sum it up, the vote slider allows way more flexible voting. However, to unlock on for the default Steemit you need at least 500 Steem Power! This means that you've got to be either contributing a lot, or buy Steem that you Power Up. This might seem impossible to new users, but start posting regularly, at it will pop up pretty soon! Once you have 500SP, you get it aut

How to convert Steem to SBD, and the other way around

Bilde
There are many reasons why you might want to convert SBD to Steem, or Steem to SBD, and it's actually pretty easy to do. To get Steem from SBD, you can do the following: Go to wallet and click on the small arrow next to your SBD balance. Select the option "Convert to Steem", and just type in the amount of wish to convert. This process will take 3,5 days to complete, so you will not be able to access your founds during this time. Trading on the internal market Another way to do it is by trading on the internal market. This also lets you convert Steem to SBD, which is not possible by the same method as above. Click here to go to the internal market . Here you can sell SBD for Steem, or Steem for SBD easily. The only downside with this method is that you need to wait until you find a buyer before you get your new founds, so don't put the sell price too high, or you might not ever be able to sell it.

How to check the value of Steem and SBD

Bilde
The value of a Steem token is changing all the time, and it is determined by what people are currently trading it for. If many people want to buy versus fewer who wants to sell, then we get a rise in the price, and vice versa. Checking the current value of the tokens is pretty easy, and most people use the website called Coinmarketcap . This website tells you the price of any cryptocurrency, and got their own page for Steem and SBD. Click here to go to the price of Steem. Click here to go to the price of SBD.  Despite this being the current price, it might not be what you are able to sell or buy it for. When you buy or sell Steem/SBD you sell to induviduals or corporations who are free to choose their own price, so you should always check their price against the "official" price to see if you get a bad deal! The value of a SBD should in theory be roughly $1, but this has been proven to not be true. It can change a great deal, so you should always check this before m

How to read and post on the Steem blockchain when Steemit is down

Bilde
Steemit has been attacker by DDoS'ers in the past, and might be again in the future, and during these attacks we are all unable to use Steemit to post and interact with other people. However, it is still possible to use other services to access the Steem blockchain, even when Steemit is offline! You your the same usersname and password as you do on Steemit, and everything is exactly the same. Anything you post, upvote, edit or delete on any of these services will affect all the other services, including Steemit.  One of the most popular alternative services to access the Steem blockchain is http://busy.org . Busy looks a lot like Steemit, but is formed more like a classic social network. Anyway, it's a great websiet to use instead of Steemit, especially if Steemit is offline. If you are using a mobile device, eSteem is a great alternative. They plan on creating a web interface in the future, but as of right now, you cannot access the Steem blockchain on eSteem from your

Witness proxy explained

Bilde
At the bottom of the witness vote page you can see a field that says witness proxy, and many people are unsure what this field actually does. It's actually pretty simple, and what the witness proxy does it allows you to select another user that votes for the witnesses for you. You have a total of 30 witness votes, so it can be very difficult to find 30 people you like, but by selecting a proxy, you copy all their votes, so you don't need to worry about it yourself. I suggest to only pick people you trust as a witness proxy, since they will be able to vote however they like with your votes. However, they can not do anything else with your account, and you are free to remove the witness proxy any time you like to. It is important to keep in mind that you cannot vote for anyone yourself when you have an active witness proxy.   If you want to learn more about witnesses, check out the witness guide category .

How to vote for a witness

Bilde
The Steem blockchain has a total of 30 active witnesses that are responsible for keeping the blockchain running, as well as accepting any new updates to the blockchain. Anyone can run to be a witness as long as they have the blockchain running on their system, and anyone can vote on who they want as their witness as well. In order to vote for a witness, you need to head over to https://steemit.com/~witnesses . You need to be logged in to Steemit to be able to vote. This page will show you the top 50 witnesses, and you simply click on the upvote button next to the witness(es) you like to vote for. If you want to vote for someone else (not currently in the top 50) then scroll to the bottom and write their name in the field there. Don't use the @ before their name, but just type their usersname in the field.   If you want to learn more about witnesses, check out the witness guide category .
