How to Power Up your Steem, converting Steem into Steem Power

By power up your Steem you gain more influence on the blockchain. What it actually means is that all your upvotes are worth more money, so you can give people more payment for their posts, as well in increasing your own curation rewards.

In order to power up, you need the Active Key or higher. Now head over to your wallet and click on the small arrow next to your Steem balance. Simply click on "Power Up", read the disclaimer, and select how much you would like to Power up!

You can easily Power Up all your Steem, which converts your Steem into Steem Power. This means that you will get more influence on the blockchain, but it will take some time to power down, which you should keep in mind if you might want to sell your tokens. It takes a total of 13 weeks to power down all your Steem Power. Doing this will reduce your influence, but will get your Steem Power back to being Steem. Steem can be sold, but holding Steem will not give you a more valueable upvote.

Note that you cannot power up SBD, to if you want to power up this you will need to trade SBD into Steem first, which can be done on the internal market.
