Buying Steem can be a nice way to get into using the Steem blockchain, and there are several places to buy. If you are already knowledgeable about cryptocurrencies in general, than you can most likely just head over to your favorite exchange to trade for some Steem, but everyone else can keep reading this guide in order to learn how to buy Steem.

Before you buy Steem, you need to et your hands on some Bitcoin, or another popular cryptocurrency such as Litecoin, Etherum or something like that. Buying Bitcoin is a bit differently depending on where in the world you live, but if you go to the "Buy Bitcoin" site on Bitcoin.com, then you can select your country and get specific instructions that suit your country. Most countries allows your to buy BTC with your credit card or a bank transfer, but it might take a few days if it's your first time.

When you have bitcoin it is time to trade them into Steem. There are several different exchanges that does this, but my favorite is BlockTrades. This website is very easy to use. Start by going there and typing in how many Steem you would like to buy. This tells how how much BTC you need to pay, and the address where you should send the founds to. Now go to your BTC wallet and transfer the money over to the address you got, and you should receive the Steem in a matter of minutes.

You can also use BlockTrades if you want to ever sell your Steem again. The process for doing this is exactly the same, but make sure you select "Buy BTC for Steem", and not the other way around.
